The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks men’s soccer team has added talented midfielder Mihretu (Moe) Huska to its roster.
Huska is coming to Lethbridge from Cranbrook, B.C. where he just wrapped up a historic season with the Kootenay Rovers U18 team. He captained his team to a gold medal at the 2025 B.C. provincials, the first in the region’s history.
Kodiaks head coach Mike Racz took a recruiting trip to Vancouver in February and saw Huska in action. From there he invited Huska to the Kodiaks ID camp where they talked more about joining the men’s program.
“Moe is a calm and composed presence in the midfield,” says Racz. “He has a fantastic work rate and is strong both in and out of possession. His stamina allows him to maintain that level of intensity for a full 90 minutes. He brings stability to the midfield and does a great job linking play and breaking up opposition attacks.”
Huska says he is excited to start this next stage of his life and the independence that comes with it. He will be starting in the General Arts and Science – Kinesiology program after being homeschooled.
Huska also has family who live in Lethbridge, and because it's not too far from his hometown, he says his family can still make the drive down to watch him play.
“It was a sense of community that influenced me to join the program,” says Huska. “I know some of the guys from the team already. I think we’ve got a pretty close, tight-knit group. So, it was something that attracted me to come join a team like that.”
Racz says he sees great potential in Huska the more time he gets in the midfield and that he is a lead-by-example kind of player. He also says he believes Huska will help set the standard for what’s expected in the program through his consistency, effort and attitude.
“Moe does the little things right and makes everyone around him better,” says Racz. “I’m looking forward to having him on the squad and seeing how he grows over time with the Kodiaks.”
Huska credits his family and coaches for supporting him throughout his journey to signing with the Kodiaks.
