Red Crow Rising
My culture has been pretty big in the sport and where I come from. There’s always fans at the games always showing love.

Cash Red Crow first became interested in basketball in Grade 3 while attending Saipoyi Elementary School in Stand Off. He attended Saipoyi from Grade 1 to 5 before transferring to Cardston for Grades 6 to 9.
"I then played a couple of years on the reservation at Kainai High School, then in Grade 11 and 12 I transferred to Magrath High School," said Red Crow. "There's not a lot of players who leave the reserve to play high school basketball. It was a little complicated for me because I had to travel on the bus for half an hour and then I wasn't able to play for Magrath until I moved there."
Despite finishing his high school career with the Magrath Zeniths, Red Crow noted his culture continued to play a big role in his love of basketball.
"My culture has been pretty big in the sport and where I come from. There's always fans at the games always showing love."
While in his senior year at Magrath, began thinking about continuing his education and basketball career at Lethbridge Polytechnic.
"In the middle of my Grade 12 year it became a goal to come to the Kodiaks," said Red Crow. "I got some looks from the coach (Ryan Heggie) in our playoff games. It was an easy decision because I wanted to be close to home and figure out life from there."
Red Crow also had family members and friends who previously played for the Kodiaks which helped with the transition.
"It's been a great experience so far," said Red Crow. "I've been a redshirt this year, but it's been great playing against higher-level players."
As a five-foot-10 point guard, Red Crow said his strengths are his ability to rebound as well as his shooting and finishing.
Red Crow is in his first year of General Arts and Science and his goal is to pursue business or possibly become a social worker.
"That's what my mom does. She's a social worker on the reserve."
