The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks continued to shine in the 2024-25 athletic and academic season, with 55 student-athletes receiving Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Scholar recognition. Leading the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference in the number of recipients, the Kodiaks demonstrated exceptional dedication both in their studies and in their respective sports.
To be named a National Scholar, student-athletes must earn a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.3 and be enrolled for the full academic year while also competing for a sponsored athletics team.
"Academic accountability is the Kodiaks' first pillar of success, and having 55 student-athletes earning this recognition shows what kind of dedication our Kodiaks have to being perennially strong in the classroom," says Todd Caughlin, Kodiaks director of Athletics and Recreation Services. "The coaching staff of every sport helps to support our student-athletes to maintain the standards expected of them with being a Kodiak and we are very proud to place 55 of our Kodiaks on this national recognition list!"
Kodiaks student-athletes earned a combined 3.07 GPA in 2024. Every Kodiaks program had multiple CCAA National Scholar honourees, led by the cross-country team with 13 recipients. The Kodiaks women's cross-country team led all Kodiaks teams academically with a 3.43 GPA.
