Esports: Valorant team Canadian Brewhouse Kodiaks student-athletes of the week

The Lethbridge Kodiaks Valorant team delivered a statement performance in their playoff quarterfinal matchup, earning Athletes of the Week honours after a thrilling best-of-three victory over the NCAA Division I SMU Mustangs (Southern Methodist University).

In what was the closest series of their season, the Kodiaks battled through three tightly contested maps, securing a 2–1 win with each game decided by only a few rounds. The team showed remarkable consistency, resilience, and composure under pressure that was punctuated by a standout performance from their top contributor, who maintained the highest impact across all three maps.

The squad features a talented and cohesive roster: Ty Bastien-Nabozniak, Ryder Bittman, Brayden Easthope, Rhex Ledama, Rizky Saputra, and Matthew Warf. Their teamwork and preparation proved decisive in advancing to the semifinal round.

Next up, the Kodiaks face the University of Alberta’s Orange roster on Dec. 4, a highly anticipated rematch against the only team to hand Lethbridge a loss during the regular season. With momentum on their side and redemption on the line, the semifinal promises to be one of the most exciting matchups of the year.
