Matishak and Jacob Pares Canadian Brewhouse Kodiaks student-athletes of the week

Kenley Matishak (third year, Practical Nurse, Calgary) led the attack for the Kodiaks women’s soccer team this past weekend in their matchup against the Ambrose Lions. Matishak scored the Kodiaks’ only goal of the game and registered three shots on target. Operating from the wing, she was a constant offensive threat, creating several scoring opportunities and keeping the opposition defense on its heels. Her energetic play and attacking instincts sparked the Kodiaks throughout the match.

Cristobal Jacob Pares (first year, Civil Engineering Technology, Nelson, B.C.) anchored the midfield for the Kodiaks men’s soccer team in a gritty 0–0 draw against the Ambrose Lions this past weekend. Pares played a crucial role in breaking up attacks and limiting Ambrose’s offensive rhythm with his tireless strong defensive play. His ability to read the game and disrupt play made a clear impact throughout the match. For his standout performance, Pares was named Lethbridge’s ACAC player of the match.
