Bradford and Hosannah Canadian Brewhouse Kodiaks student-athletes of the week
The Canadian Brewhouse is proud to sponsor the Kodiaks Student-Athletes of the Week.
Alexis Bradford (fourth year, Open Studies, Abbotsford, B.C.) played a key role in the Kodiaks women’s futsal team’s performance at the ACAC Futsal Championships, helping the team stay competitive against top-seeded opponents throughout the tournament as the wildcard entry. Facing some of the strongest teams in the conference, Bradford made her biggest impact in the bronze quarterfinal, where she was a driving force behind the Kodiaks’ offensive push. After a tough opening matchup against the SAIT Trojans, Bradford responded with a standout performance against The King’s University Eagles. She recorded two goals and an assist to Megan Morrison, playing a central role in a second-half comeback effort that saw the Kodiaks erase a three-goal deficit. Bradford sparked the rally with an early goal that shifted momentum, and continued to pressure the Eagles’ defence with her movement and presence in front of the net. She remained a key contributor late in the match, scoring again in the final minute to bring Lethbridge within one and give the Kodiaks a chance to complete the comeback. Throughout the game, Bradford’s ability to create opportunities in attacking helped fuel a four-goal surge and kept the Kodiaks within reach against a top-ranked opponent. Her performance highlighted her ability to step up in key moments and was instrumental in pushing one of the conference’s top teams to the limit in a tightly contested championship matchup.
Nathaniel Hosannah (second year, Business Administration, Tacoma, Wash.) was a driving force for the Kodiaks men’s basketball team at the CCAA National Championship, delivering consistent performances against the top teams in the country. Throughout the tournament, Hosannah made an impact on both ends of the floor, helping the Kodiaks stay competitive in each matchup. In the quarterfinal against host VIU, Hosannah contributed early with a three-pointer and added a late first-half finish to help give the Kodiaks a halftime lead, while continuing to score and keep Lethbridge within reach down the stretch. He followed that with a strong all-around performance in the bronze quarterfinal win over St. Thomas University, making key defensive plays including back-to-back steals that led to a crucial late basket, while adding timely scoring and a block to help secure the win. Hosannah continued to make an impact in the bronze semifinal, contributing offensively with baskets and free throws while maintaining his presence defensively. Throughout the tournament, his ability to create opportunities, apply pressure on both ends, and step up in key moments helped the Kodiaks stay competitive against top-ranked teams. His performance highlighted his leadership and consistency, earning him CCAA Second Team All-Tournament honours.
