The Canadian Brewhouse is proud to sponsor the Kodiaks Student-Athletes of the Week. Congrats to our women’s indoor track team and the men’s basketball team on their selections.
The Kodiaks men’s basketball team delivered a strong all-around performance at the ACAC Championship Tournament, earning Athlete of the Week honours. Three student-athletes were recognized at the championship banquet for their regular season performances: Levi Balderson (First Team All-Conference), Nathaniel Hosannah (Second Team All-Conference), and Marley Kenion (Rookie of the Year). Highlights from the weekend included two wins, including an upset victory over the North Division’s No. 1 seed and host school. The Kodiaks earned a silver medal and qualified for the CCAA National Championship. Following the tournament, both Balderson and Hosannah were named Tournament All-Stars. Balderson led the tournament in scoring and shot 100% from the free-throw line, while Hosannah led the tournament in minutes played, logging the maximum 40 minutes in every game.
The Kodiaks women’s indoor track team delivered a historic performance at the ACAC Championships, powered by dominant sprint and relay efforts to capture the team’s first conference title. The 4x200-metre relay team of Hallee Pilling, Hana Oikawa, Paighton Kumson, and Hazel Baumbach claimed gold with a time of 1:49.66, setting a new ACAC conference record. The momentum continued in the 4x400-metre relay as Pilling, Oikawa, Katrina Michel, and Kate Block secured another first-place finish to close out the championships. Kumson also delivered a standout individual performance, leading the Kodiaks as the women’s team’s top point scorer and earning a silver medal in the 300 metres with a time of 43.23, while Oikawa added a bronze medal in the same event. In the distance events, Khloe Jankowiak contributed a bronze medal in the 3000 metres, helping seal the championship victory for the Kodiaks.
