Reese Hanusich (fourth year, General Arts and Science, Red Deer) turned in a standout weekend performance in the Kodiaks’ back-to-back wins over the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, directing the offence with poise and consistency across both matches. In Friday's five-set road battle, Hanusich recorded a double-double with 30 assists and 12 digs, helping the Kodiaks settle in after dropping the opening set and guiding the team through two narrow 25–23 victories before closing out the match 15–9 in the fifth. She returned home Saturday and continued to control the tempo in a dominant straight-sets sweep, tallying 24 assists and adding two blocks while orchestrating an offence that hit .316 as a team. Her steady leadership, smart distribution, and ability to elevate the play of her hitters earned her ACAC Player of the Game honours and were central to completing the weekend sweep.
Ethan Grasmeyer (third year, Conservation Enforcement – Bachelor of Applied Science, Smithers, B.C.) continued his strong indoor season with another impressive showing at the second ACAC Running Room Grand Prix in Red Deer, capturing first place in the 3000 metre with a time of 9:39.51. Competing against a deep and competitive conference field, Grasmeyer ran a composed and tactical race, positioning himself well throughout before pulling away to secure the victory. His endurance and ability to maintain pace over the later stages of the race proved decisive as he claimed the top spot on the podium. The performance builds on his earlier 1500 metre win at Grand Prix #1 and reinforces his consistency and leadership in the Kodiaks’ distance program as the championship season approaches.
