Summer Long (first year, General Arts and Science, Raymond) of the women’s basketball team delivered a breakout weekend, helping lead the Kodiaks to a pair of upset wins over the Ambrose University Lions. Long led Lethbridge in minutes played, points, and rebounds in both games, providing a steady presence as the Kodiaks opened the second half of the season with momentum. In Friday’s 78–67 game, Long logged 36 minutes and finished with a team-high 22 points and nine rebounds, while adding four assists, seven steals, and two blocks to anchor the Kodiaks’ defensive effort. She followed that performance with a dominant showing in Saturday’s 67–51 win, playing 33 minutes and scoring 34 points to go along with 10 rebounds and three assists, earning ACAC Player of the Game honours. Long’s two-way impact, poise, and leadership were instrumental in the Kodiaks securing back-to-back upset wins and underscored her growing role within the lineup.
Levi Balderson (second year, General Arts and Science, Welling) of the men’s basketball team was a driving force for the Kodiaks across a challenging back-to-back series against the Ambrose University Lions. Balderson led Lethbridge offensively in both games, setting the tone with his shot-making and steady presence as the Kodiaks split the weekend. In Friday’s 100–88 loss, Balderson played all 40 minutes and poured in a game-high 33 points on efficient shooting, adding five assists and earning ACAC Player of the Game honours despite the result. He followed that performance with another strong outing in Saturday’s 103–80 win, scoring 25 points in 36 minutes while knocking down five three-pointers and contributing on both ends of the floor. Balderson’s consistency, offensive leadership, and ability to respond in high-pressure moments were key factors in the Kodiaks’ weekend and underscored his importance within the lineup.
