Nowicki and Low named Moxie's/Italian Table AOTM

Oct. 5, 2018 - Displaying great leadership in guiding their teams to big opening months, the Kodiaks are proud to announce Sophia Nowicki (WXC) and Dave Low (MSOC) as the Moxie's/Italian Table Kodiaks Athletes of the Month for September!

New for 2018-19, our Athlete of the Month winners will recieve a $40 gift certificate to either Moxie's or Italian Table. The Kodiaks would like to thank these two amazing restauraunts for their continued support of Kodiaks Athletics!

Sophia Nowicki (WXC - second year, Nursing, Bragg Creek, Alta.)

The reigning CCAA bronze medalist has picked up where she left off last season, starting 2018 with three straight ACAC Grand Prix wins. She has also led her team to three straight overall team victories, which has earned the Kodiaks a second place spot in the first CCAA national rankings of the season.

The second year Nursing student from Bragg Creek, Alta. really turned up the heat during the last race of September. Facing all ACAC competitors for the first time, she glided into top spot at the ACAC Grand Prix #4, defeating the second place finisher by over 17 seconds. Nowicki will look to continue her run of success into October, as a CCAA Nationals spot is on the line.

Dave Low (MSOC - first year, General Studies, England)

Providing his team with a calming, veteran presence, Low has made a tremendous impact in his first season with the Kodiaks.

“Dave has been in amazing form,” says Kodiaks head coach Sean Carey. “His endless tackles and solid play on the back line has given us a chance to win every contest. His great distribution and precise passes from open play and set plays always gives us an extra attacking threat.”

A native of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, Dave’s experience has been valuable in tutoring a young Kodiaks back line. He can constantly be seen talking with his teammates and guiding them through all situations. His leadership and positive attitude is a huge asset both on and off the field, and he makes everyone around him better players. He will look to guide the Kodiaks into the ACAC playoffs as the schedule turns to October.
