Jan. 8, 2018 - Rising to the occassion against their fiercest rival, Michael Clemons and Madi Gladstone both elevated their games as the Kodiaks opened the 2019 portion of the schedule last weekend.
Clemons made history on the Kodiaks home floor, recording three steals on Friday to overtake the ACAC record for career steals with 210. He also dominated offensively the following night, leading the Kodiaks to a big weekend sweep of rival Medicine Hat.
While the Kodiaks women didn't pick up a victory, they gave fourth ranked Medicine Hat a stiff test in both games thanks in large part to Gladstone's strong offense and determined defence. Gladstone thrived while guarding one of the Rattler's key scoring threats, and drained a season high 20 points on Saturday in a heartbreaking 2OT loss.
Michael Clemons - MBB
Kodiaks point guard Michael Clemons added to his legacy over the weekend, becoming the ACAC all-time steals leader after recording his 210th career steal on Friday.
Already the ACAC career assists leader, Clemons also put on an offensive show all weekend. He collected a double-double on Friday and added 29 points on Saturday to help the Kodiaks to a crucial sweep of rival Medicine Hat College.
Madi Gladstone - WBB
Madi has been a steady presence in the Kodiaks backcourt, showing increased confidence and poise with every game. Her 20 points on Saturday helped the Kodiaks nearly upset the fourth ranked Medicine Hat Rattlers, as the team narrowly dropped a 2OT heartbreaker.
Her strong defence was also on display all weekend. Given the difficult assignment of guarding Medicine Hat's star offensive player, Madi thrived and prevented any large offensive outbreaks against her team.
