May 1, 2019 – Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s basketball head coach Ryan Heggie has once again turned to the basketball hotbed of Raymond, AB to add talent to his 2019-20 roster.
After already securing a commitment from Brock Dewsbery, Heggie has excitedly announced the addition of former Raymond Comet point guard Chase Bohne.
The addition of Bohne comes with many interesting family ties.
Dewsbery and Bohne happen to be cousins. Bohne will also get the chance to play with his older brother Trey, who has also played with the Kodiaks the previous two seasons.
Listed as a 5’10 point guard, Bohne will be returning to Alberta to pursue his education after serving a two year mission.
Asked to describe himself as a player, Bohne says he “loves to play high tempo, aggressive basketball on both offense and defence.”
Above all, he is relishing the chance to play competitive post-secondary basketball while staying close to home.
“I am looking forward to not only representing the school, but also my family and my community, being so close to home,” says Bohne. “I've developed a deeper love for basketball playing my last two years of high school in Southern Alberta, so I'm excited to continue to develop myself as a player and a student in Lethbridge.”
Heggie thinks that Bohne’s aggressive style of game will fit well into the high tempo brand of basketball he tries to implement.
“Adding Chase is really exciting for our program,” says Heggie. “He’s a multi-position guard who can score the ball in a variety of ways. He’s also able to facilitate the ball to teammates, and brings a high level of competitiveness that is definitely needed to succeed at this level.”
“We look forward to having Chase become a part of our program.”
Once he arrives at Lethbridge College, Bohne will begin classes in the business administration program.
The Kodiaks will begin training camp later this summer, with the 2019-20 ACAC regular season set to begin in early October.
